Peace Bond After Cross-Examining the Complainant for Half a Day:
In February of 2025, Kevin conducted a trial at the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto for F.L., who was charged with assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Halfway through Kevin’s cross-examination of the complainant, the Crown Attorney offered Kevin’s client a peace bond and all the charges were withdrawn.
Serious Drug Charges Withdrawn in Thunder Bay:
In October of 2024, Kevin travelled to Thunder Bay to conduct a two-week jury trial. His client, D.D., was charged with possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, and obstructing a peace officer. After a mistrial was caused during jury deliberations, the federal Crown withdrew the charges and Kevin’s client was free to go.
Serious Drug Charges Stayed in Timmins:
In September of 2024, following a successful Charter application at the Superior Court of Justice in Timmins, Kevin’s client had his charges stayed. The Charter application had to do with, amongst other things, an unlawful strip search. R.L. had been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and fentanyl, as well as possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. After his charges were stayed, however, he was free to go.
Not Guilty of Serious Sexual Assault Charges:
In April of 2024, Kevin travelled to Barrie. His client, D.A., was charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. After several days of pre-trial motions, as well as a six-day jury trial, D.A. was acquitted of all charges.
Not Guilty of Human Trafficking-Related Charges:
In May of 2023, Kevin conducted a jury trial for T.B. at the Superior Court of Justice in Brampton. Although the human trafficking charge had been withdrawn prior to trial, T.B. still faced several serious human trafficking-related charges at trial. After a ten-day jury trial though, the jury found T.B. not guilty of all charges.
Not Guilty of Numerous Sexual Assault Charges:
In January of 2023, following a judge-alone trial at the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa, Kevin’s client, T.H., was found not guilty of all the charges that he was facing. T.H. had been facing several serious sexual assault and sexual interference charges.
Not Guilty of 2nd Degree Murder:
In March of 2022, Kevin and his co-counsel conducted a judge-alone trial for P.S. at the Superior Court of Justice in Newmarket. P.S., who had been charged with second degree murder, was found not guilty and his 4-year legal saga was over.
Attempted Murder Charges Withdrawn:
In February of 2025, Kevin had all charges withdrawn on the first day of the preliminary hearing for A.M., who had been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and assault with a weapon.
